Lasses in London

After an impressive performance against QPR to proceed to the Quarter-Finals of the Carabao Cup, it’s an SAFC return to the capital on Sunday (31st October) when Sunderland Ladies play Charlton Athletic Women.  Let’s hope for a second win and partially negate the hex which the Valliant’s men’s team seem to have over ours at present.

Charlton Women play their games at the ground of VCD Athletic in Crayford (The Oakwood, Old Road DA1 4DN)  Kick-off is at 2.00 p.m.  Tickets are available in advance at : https://tinyurl.com/y2xy8tc2

Crayford is served by frequent trains from Cannon Street (or Charing Cross, changing at London Bridge).  It is a 10-15 minute walk to the ground.  Exit station and at end of road turn left down hill.  At roundabout turn left and continue into Crayford High Street.  Follow this road for its whole length as it goes up hill and bends to left, passing the One Bell pub on the way.  This road then becomes Old Road and the ground is on the right.

Sunderland will welcome back Maria Farrugia who as been away on international duty for Malta in Russia and Azerbaijan and hope to have Charlotte Potts available again after injury so a strong side should be available.  Charlton have made a good start to the season and sit 4 places but only 4 points ahead of Sunderland (whose Ladies also had a penalty shoot out Cup win in their most recent outing).

So if your voices have recovered from the QPR game, come along and add your vocal support to the team. it is always much appreciated, particularly at an away game a long way from the North East.

For those unable to attend the game will also be shown live on the FAPlayer app via hand held devices. But shouting at your phone/tablet doesn’t help the players so your presence is preferred!
