No team to support this coming international week-end? Think again! Sunderland Ladies, sponsored by the London Branch, continue their quest to reach the SSE Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley with a quarter-final tie against Chelsea Ladies at Staines Town FC on Sunday 26th with a 2.00 p.m. kick-off.
In what will be only their second competitive game of the year, this tie against one of the favourites will not be an easy one for a squad shorn of the services of key players from the last two seasons so every bit of vocal and visual support will be welcome. The lasses however performed creditably in the previous round under the new coaching team and displayed a sense of resolve after a tough period when the players learned of the decision to revert the club to part-time status.
As midfielder Maddie Hill is quoted in the Echo : “The girls were raring to go and came with a lot of energy and a point to prove. Everyone wanted to come out and show we are still a strong team, not easy to beat.”
So why not go along and demonstrate they aren’t alone in that determination. Admission is only £6 for Adults and £3 for U-20s and O-65s. The ground is located at Wheatsheaf Lane, Staines, TW18 2PD
There is plenty of information on how to get there and where to eat and drink at : http://www.footballgroundguide.com/staines-town-fc-wheatsheaf-park.html#adirections-and-car-parking
To this we can add that there are trains to Staines from Waterloo at 09, 25, 39, 45 and 50 minutes past each hour. Bus no 458 from Staines bus station passes near the ground.
